Earthshine: The Old Moon in the New Moon's Arms
The Moon appears as a thin crescent, but the features of the lunar face are clearly visible, lit up by sunlight reflecting off the Earth. (The Earth goes through opposite phases from the point of view of an observer on the Moon, so at this point the Earth is just past Full in a Waxing gibbous phase.) This phenomenon is sometimes called "The Old Moon in the New Moon's Arms."
